As befits
objects with a long history, myths and misunderstandings have developed
around wearing spectacles.
Now
for the facts
- Wearing
spectacles will not make your eyes weaker
- The
wrong prescription will not make your eyes weaker
- Wearing
spectacles does not mean your eyes are weak; you just need help
with focussing
- Sunglasses
are not bad for your eyes
- You
cannot strengthen your eyes by not wearing glasses when you actually
need them
And
if you wear contact lenses also
- Contact
lenses cannot get lost behind the eye
- Contact
lenses do not prevent short sightedness (myopia); they treat it,
in the same way that spectacles do
Tip
for tired eyes
If your
eyes are tired at the end of a long day in front of a screen, an anti-reflection
coating on your spectacles can provide relief.
If you
